All Saints Celebration
Saturday, November 2nd
Imagine a merging of ancient Celtic Christian distinctives such as gender equality in leadership, truths expressed through art, a deep respect for nature, hospitality and the ministry of presence with modern expressions of inclusivity, creativity, creation care, and communal support.
Now imagine a multi-ethnic gathering grounded in Holy Scripture and embodying a unity in diversity, together celebrating the saints of old, friends and family lost, and modern martyrs for justice.
Such will be the setting for an All Saints’ Day gathering happening at Converge Denver on November 2nd.On the Western Christian calendar, the holiday of All Saints' Day falls on November 1st, followed by All Souls’ Day on November 2nd. Both celebrations stem from a belief that there is a powerful spiritual bond between those in heaven and those on earth.
In the British Isles, it is known that churches were already celebrating All Saints’ Day on November 1st at the beginning of the 8th century to coincide with or replace the Celtic festival of Samhain.
On this day it is common for families to attend church in honor of all the saints, known and unknown, as well as visit cemeteries in order to lay flowers and candles on the graves of their deceased loved ones.
Celtic Way and Transforming Creatives are working together to craft a unique, participative experience that honors those who have passed on and informs the legacy each of us is creating.
We invite you to join us for an evening of remembrance, celebration, and commitment. We’ll gather at 5pm and share a potluck dinner afterward. If you’re able, please bring finger foods and a beverage or libation to share.
