The Celtic World View:
A Web Like Weaving

Celtic Spirituality (and thus, Celtic Christianity) is subjective, rather than objective. She is speculative, rather than dogmatic. She is experience driven and personal, as well as communitarian. Celtic spirituality presents a subjective world-view that is whole and sensitive. Like the building of a web, she weaves psychology, ecology, anthropology, history together into a cohesive, histological whole. The Celtic way is a way of life, a subjective, spiraling logic, if you will, that informs and reforms the whole of life.

If one were to need to use one word to sum up the entirety of the Celtic worldview, the only word that works is wholeness. Or to play with two closely related words—(w)holiness. This being the case, is it not to the advantage of our well-being to explore the deep wells of Celtic spirituality?

This course, although introductory in nature, dives deeply into the very deep well of Celtic spirituality.

Celtic spirituality is much older and more complex than her sibling, Celtic Christianity. It is the premise of this course that digging deep in Celtic spirituality cannot help, but increase the depth of Celtic Christianity in our lives, or for that matter, in the lives of any who seek to follow the Celtic way.

Along the way we will draw from Celtic myth, legend and poetry. In conclusion we will briefly explore the differences between, and similarities of Celtic spirituality as manifested by Celtic Christianity with the Western Church (Roman & Protestant), Eastern Church, Creation Spiritually, Celtic paganism, along with a few comparisons to Buddhism and the Jewish Cabbalah.

If one were to need to use one word to sum up the entirety of the Celtic worldview, the only word that works is wholeness. Or to play with two closely related words—(w)holiness.

The Celtic way is a way of life, a subjective, spiraling logic, if you will, that informs and reforms the whole of life.
